I'm building my first ever Wordpress site for a client, and I feel retarded. I took the project specifically because there was a good amount of time to figure this shit out, and while it had a couple of more high-tech features, it was mainly a pretty straight forward and clean design. I'm obviously running into problems already and am wondering if any of you nerdyboys would be able to help me out with this or even point me in the direction of some things I should read up on. I'm familiar and even competent with HTML but editing PHP and CSS is a little confusing for me.
I would of course be willing to trade some arting for this help, just not anytime in october because I am taking a motherfucking freelance break after being severely overloaded these last few weeks. You may also point and laugh at me for getting myself into stupid situations, if you'd really like to.

What type of problems are you having/what type of help do you need specifically? What are you trying to accomplish that you are having problems with? I could very likely provide you with assistance, I just need a little more detail.

I preface this by saying that I've been reading and watching tutorials on css all week, and I feel like I have a good idea now how the code works and I'm pretty comfortable with it. That being said, I ran into my first snaffu last night over relatively simple things. I'm having problems with my header, which is obviously going to be the most important element on the page. I am looking into customizing "header art", but I have a feeling one of you may be able to explain it better. Sadly, I can't post the design because the client would get pissed, but I'm going to post a mockup of the design. So basically, there is one key image element, a logo, which I think will need to be an image also, and a relatively simple text nav which I think will be in helvetica. I already have the background for the entire site set, and I feel happy with that, so my big question is how I should be treating this elements to make them..fit together. I understand it may not be perfect with the overhang from the image, but I'm really just not sure. All my images I have been saving out as png to preserve their transparency if that helps at all. I know you guys would probably have to be looking at my theme to tell me some exact code, but any help you can offer would be appreciated. My second question is about page plug-ins because I assume thats what this will be. My client really wants to add a feature element to the page similar to the one found here: http://hypebeast.com/If you guys could just point me in the direction as to what thats even called so I can research how it works, I would be very thankful. I know I'm being as confusing as fuck, and I apologize.

So my header is still all kinds of fucked up, but I atleast got my feature post..kind of working? Now my biggest problem is limiting size on individual posts AND that my sidebar keeps popping up underneath my content. I made sure I had it set to float etc, but its still being a cocksucker.
I know a lot of this shit can't be fixed unless someone had a look at my css, but I can't post it online just yet. Would anyone be around for me to AIM harass tonight perhaps around 9-10 eastcoast?
I'd be happy and grateful forever.

Allo boys. So I've got it almost all working. But I'm still, of course, having problems with my header. I'm going to post the link here and hopefully you guys can give me some advice. A friend from work is the one who suggested I put my nav in the content section of the page as opposed to the actual header, but I really don't want to do that. Also, I know my CSS is hella awkward, I'm going to be cleaning it when I switch the blog over to the clients server. There are also a few other things that need to get hammered out, like why the fuck my feature post images won't show up, but my main concern is still the header. To clarify, the "Home, About, and Rusty's Mail Bag" text should actually be links and be left-justified under the "meatbazooka.com" logo (but above the grey dotted line). Let me know if you guys have a clue. I've fiddled with it so much I'm pretty sure I'm going to fuck it up hard. And yes, I am building a porn blog. Fuck You, PHP. And no I didn't purposely draw a redhead, thats what the client wanted! I SWEAR.

That is the classiest porn blog I have ever seen. Why is so much of your work porn related?

Hoorah! Classy is the hope for it all!
As for porn related work...I draw naked ladies really well? It appeals to porn people. And the people I'm building this blog for are awesome, and I really like them and their porn-vision.

Legality question. I started with a base theme for the wordpress site and basically just tore apart and customized that theme to create the site. One issue I ran into was the dreaded "License: Free to use must keep footer intact AS IS" What is the actual legality there? Can anything be done to me if I remove the links in the footer? For now I just made them tiny and white and shoved them into a corner, but I was wondering if I found a way to remove them altogether if there was any action that could actually be taken on a free theme. Or if I really just need to suck it up and deal with it. I'm hoping it wouldn't be a huge deal, but I figure you guys probably have a better idea than I do. Also, I finally got the nav into the proper place but now I can't get the links to actually be links. HEADACHE. I think its because the logo itself is a clickable link but when I tried to get rid of its function, it just deleted the image altogether. new link is: http://www.meatbazooka.comEDIT: I should mention, also, that the links have NOTHING whatsoever to do with the original theme designer. They are spam links which "promise" not to effect the searchability of the site etc. I would never remove a link to the original theme designer, even if I did completely gut it.

I really enjoyed the websites that they link to from their porn blog. The Vintage Porn was pretty hilarious. I mean, seriously, porn from the 20's? Priceless. Also the orgasm website is a neat concept.

Can you link to the original theme? How much of the template left would you consider to be not yours? It looks like the links in the nav are working fine. I see that the nav and content are pretty far from the top of the page. I use Safari in OS X. Is that intentional?
Last but not least, never underestimate browser inconsistencies. Something that looks perfect in Firefox for Windows XP has the ability to be totally fucked in Safari/IE 7/Netscape Communicator (joke).

Aha! I fixed it.
And the links work in firefox for me now also. I'd REALLY appreciate if someone with a PC could take a look on IE etc. for me.
I have no idea what that'll look like.
