I read comics a lot. I mean, they're part of my daily routine. I love comics. Always have and I always will. I find it pretty damn creepy that the only person I talk to about them (besides Nick here and there) is myself. I mean, I'm really interesting an all, but c'mon. The goal of this thread is to be a comics megathread. Comicbooks, webcomics, newspaper comics (the funnies) and if you feel it's really nessecary, manga. These are things we should post about every day. Here we go. From Spamusement.com. Thank you, thank you, thank you Joe, for posting this at some point on the boards. This comic is one of the only consistently funny comics I read. Pretty much every comic in that guy's archives will make me laugh. My new avatar came from this Cliche Ole. It is a testament to how much better Nick is at drawing comics now. In other news: Fuck you Nicholas Gurewitch and your habit of breaking a promise every sunday! Fuck you!

In other news: Fuck you Nicholas Gurewitch and your habit of breaking a promise every sunday! Fuck you! I like Foxtrot and all, but anymore I think Bill Amend just wants to rename his comic "LOL BeTTar thAn Penney arcade." Also, get with the times! I don't know many iMacs you'd want to play World of Warcraft on! Fuckin' nerdy...

I used to really like Foxtrot, but it seems to have this terrible habit of taking the joke one "half step" too far.
There's an example in this strip, "I should have used more explanation points", that's an addition to the actual punch line "I don't think he was scared." Now, in this instance the "half step" isn't such a bad thing because the punchline was so weak to begin with.

Bad: Good: Am I right? This comic may not be achingly funny, but as Elmer once said, it's pretty, it's consistent and he doesn't resort to many gimmicks. Plus it's about Canadians!

I think Tim Buckley should thank his lucky stars that Jack Thompson keeps doing stuff, otherwise he'd have no idea what to do a comic about. Also, is he standing 10 feet from the surface of the sun?? That's a lot of shading! It's really impressive how well Sam Logan can use only Black and White to make his comic. Especially when most of his characters are wearing all black like in this comic. Checkerboard Nightmare is one of my favorite comics. It manages to be laugh out loud funny, even though each strip is mostly dialoge. Tone of voice, speach pacing, enunciation... all things that you can't really convey with a comic strip he manages to convey ANYWAY. Anyone who hasn't read through the archives should. A real treat.

I've been upset with the decline of Ctrl+Alt+Del for quite a long time, now. I swear it was funny at one point. I swear. I laugh at a CAD every once in a while, but not nearly enough to make sense out of my MWF habit of reading it. I know everyone already knows and loves Penny Arcade, but I thought this recent comic was a hoot, because I fit the role of Gabe quite well. Is it just me, or is PA getting more and more random all the time? Example: http://penny-arcade.com/view.php?date=2005-09-07&res=l

I loved the excution of that "weird" Penny Arcade strip so much! You would scroll down reading the words, not really knowing whats going on, and the last thing you see is Gabe under the table. It was geeeenius! Today's Penny Arcade was the funniest in a while. It took me a bit longer than it should have to realize that the second panel was at another point in time than the first, but after it clicked I understood what was going on. "Your computer is full of honey. And you're angry." The fact that Tycho never says anything is only icing to the hilarity cake.

I didn't think today's was all that great. But, yeah, the "weird" one was awesome. I think my favorite part was that fruit fucker was lying on the table. It was just so unexpected. Well done, indeed. This one was really weird, too: http://penny-arcade.com/view.php?date=2005-09-26&res=lI've never seen them do anything like it before, and I've got to say, it wasn't one of my favorites.

That was just them making fun of the Skymall magazine they swiped. I found it hilarious because I see those things (relatively) all the time, and they do sell totally insane random crap with bizzare illistration

Yeah, I read the premiss of the comic in the news post (If I don't understand the comic, I revert back to the news post for some sort of clarification), but I guess it's one of those "had to be there" type things.

Diesel Sweeties is easily one of the best webcomics I read. I'm still not entirely sure what the comic is about and I've been reading it for a few years. All I know is it has robots, canadians, and porn stars. Also, it is the origin of the infamous internet icon Red Robot. It is consistently good, and it's brand of humour is delightfully twisted. If you enjoy Scary-go-round you'd probably like Diesel Sweeties. One of the more recent strips:

Yes, Penny Arcade has stepped up in the last few months. Nine out of ten Dan's agree.
"Does a Go-Bot wish he was a Transformer?" Hehe. I oughta start reading that one. I bet the archives are gigantic too...

Huge. It updates every Monday-Friday since I don't even know when. Well over a thousand strips. But it's ooooh so worth it.

That's one thing I love about webcomics, they're like print comics but still managable, you can still go back and start at the beginning. DC's had shit going on for over 70 years, just try and get to the beginning of that.

PA's was better because it had the backing of actually happening. CAD's? I doubt Jack Thompson would ever call Tim Buckley.

I think Gabe's facial expression in the last frame was the funniest part for me. Just staring off into the distance, completely unphased by what he just said, and licking his chops.
