Yeah, the way he's licking his chops is what makes it funny. Like it's not outrageous; he looks like he legitimately enjoyed what he said.

The joke is set up to make you believe they're driving fast on the road. This is enforced by him explaining that alot of people go slightly over the speed limit while driving, in this case 28 mph. Then it is revealed in the last panel that he's actually parrallel parking (punchline). This is the main joke, that 28 mph is way to fast to be going while parking, but it in truth isn't that funny because I'm sure some folks here actually do that. It would have been funnier if he said he was going 60 in a 55 mpg speed limit.
Then there's that little extra joke tacked on the end like there is with all Foxtrot strips.

Friday's Diesel Sweeties (for those who don't read): So while there is absolutely nothing wrong with this comic, and the entire thing, punchline and all, is quite funny, there's really only one panel that I needed. "Electron Mike, you look like the loneliest puppy in puppytown." Beautiful. (Oh, just for reference, Maura is an ex-porn star, and Clango's [the robot] ex-girlfriend, because she cheated on him with Electron Mike, who she just recently dumped. Clango is now dating a goth-furry named Susie. God I love this fucking comic.)

Everyone love a good pee joke. Biggest stretch ever. If I was a comic artist, I'd do this all the time. Well, not really. I hate this comic and everything about it. I don't get this joke and if I did I'm sure I'd hate it even more. This is pure filth and belongs in a newspaper from a country that doesn't matter like Romania or Bolivia.

That Pearls Before Swine made me laugh so hard when I read it this weekend. No one else in my family got it... I thought that PA was pretty hilarious.

Eh, that PA was kind of weak. It could have been done a little better. Don't ask me how. Also, best part of that Pearls Before Swine is the hair.

I thought that PA showed perfectly how people act in awkward conversations. People say things like "Oh, that must be..." when they don't know what they're talking about. Gabe goes into this mode, trying to fill conversation while completely ignoring the fact that kamikaze, by definition, are dead. I've been in that situation and said things similarly stupid, so I thought it was a hoot. Has anyone else noticed a somewhat recent decline in Get Fuzzy? I used to love it, but something has been lacking lately. It's still one of the best in the funny pages, though. I really enjoy Non Sequitur. That one really made me laugh, for some reason. I have the day-to-day calendar, reading it is a nice addition to every day.

Gabe goes into this mode, trying to fill conversation while completely ignoring the fact that kamikaze, by definition, are dead. I saw an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm recently in which Larry David was told by a Japanese guy he was eating with that his grandfather was a Kamikaze pilot, but he's still alive. Larry David, of course, didn't understand how that was possible. Hilarity ensued. God I love that show.

Checkerboard Nightmare, as we have come to know and love it, is gone. Ended. It is a sad sad day in webcomic land. Espicially because Starslip Crisis kind of sucks. You will be missed, Chex! *tear*

Starslip Crises does kind of suck! Thank God I'm not the only one. Every strip has a joke, but it's never a funny or smart one.
As for Checkerboard Nightmare, one of my favorite webcomics. If you enjoy things, you'll enjoy it.
It really needed to end though. I'm happy he did this.

Even though I hate to admit it, you are right. It did need to end. It was getting to the point where it really wasn't as funny as it had been, and I would hate to see it run on and on the point of excess. All and all, it's for the best. And who knows, maybe SSC will stop sucking so much now that he can devote his full attention to it.

Yesterday's Scary-Go-Round. I don't know why I didn't post this yesterday, but I am today because it's wonderful and the last panel is one of the greatest things I've ever read. " Surely it's okay."

Who would have thought that Friend Bat would have stuck around with Ryan after so long.
EDIT: Also Dan, I don't get that comic at all.

i don't really get it either.
It still makes me laugh. Just the idea that the Dad is a mean guy who smokes and bangs on tables is enough for me. Maybe this is what men did to their wives in the sixties. It's what I'm going to do to my wife.

That comic went downhill when Dad turned from angry smoking bald man to pussy blonde Atticus Finch wannabe. Fucking lame.
